Xiaomi Mi 10i is arriving in India to compete against the OnePlus Nord

In India, the most value of money Smartphones available right now is OnePlus Nord. OnePlus Nord literally nailed in the mid-premium segment offering the highest value for money experience. Xiaomi is another tech giant from China having a stronghold in the country. Thus, Xiaomi heads up to compete against the OnePlus Nord by bringing Mi Note 10i in the country. According to the source, Xiaomi reportedly working on a new device to counter OnePlus Nord in a country like India. Xiaomi had tradeoffs some of the key features in the Mi Note 10, to make it more affordable. Hence, the Mi Note 10 Lite was introduced four months ago.

Now, the company allegedly rebranding the Mi Note 10 Lite as Mi 10i. There is no strong evidence that proves the same. However, the source had found three new devices under the code name “toco”, “tocoin”, and “tucana”. The “tocoin” is presumed to be “toco in” i.e the Indian version of the Mi Note 10 Lite.

To counter OnePlus, Xiaomi has to upgrade its SoC in the Mi Note 10 Lite from Snapdragon 730G to 765G. In the present time, OnePlus Nord is available in India with a single variant 12GB-128GB storage configuration. Which is selling at ₹24,990, in the September OnePlus will bring a 6GB-64GB storage variant which will eventually make the more affordable. On the other hand, Mi Note 10 Lite is selling at EUR 349 (roughly ₹30,800) for the 6GB-64GB storage variant. Thus it will be not easy for Xiaomi to easily counter OnePlus Nord in the country.

However, the source had not enough evidence that confirms the existence of the device. Whether it is a fresh device or a rebranded version, but I am pretty sure Xiaomi has planned something to counter the OnePlus in the country.

For a quick reminder, Xiaomi had tradeoff some key features in the Mi Note 10 to make it more affordable. The major downgrades hit mainly the camera department. The Mi Note 10 features 108MP primary camera sensor that is slashed down to 64MP in the Mi Note 10 Lite. The rest of the phone remains unchanged as compared to the Mi Note 10.
