ZTE A20 5G Stole The Show From Xiaomi in Under Display Camera Tech

Earlier in June last year, Xiaomi had teasing under-display camera technology in a video. A month later Oppo had also found doing the same. Until now, the game has changed, ZET stole the show. ZTE has announced a world’s first under-display camera phone, that going to hit the market by September 1 this year. ZTE A20 5G will be debuted as the world’s first phone with an under-display camera. Xiaomi and Oppo both had teased their under-display camera tech last year. But unable to announce a phone with that technology inside till now.

According to some reports, Visionox has helped ZTE to achieve the feat. Anyways, this tech is yet to fully mature as of now we are going to see a phone with a full view display. No notch, no punch cuts, it will be all screen like we have already seen in a phone with a pop-up selfie camera module. Last week, a ZTE A2121 had gone through various certification authorities including TENAA. Until now the device is presumed to be ZTE A20 5G but it will be the successor of ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G from May last year. Hence, the company revealed the A20 5G will be called as ZTE Axon 20 5G. While in the certification process TENNA has revealed its key specs, and it will not be a flagship.

ZTE A20 5G Features and Specs

Upfront, the device is built around an FHD+ resolution OLED display of size 6.92″ inch. Underneath the display there you have a 32MP selfie camera sensor on top and the optical fingerprint scanner on the bottom. At the rear side of the phone, you got an array of a camera module. That combines a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP sensor most probably an ultrawide lens, and a set of 2MP sensors most likely a macro lens and a depth sensor.

Under the hood, there you have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G SoC. That combines 8XKyro 475 CPUs fabricated in the 7nm process. Besides, it bundled with Adreno 620 GPU and 12GB LPDDR4x RAM alongside UFS storage type support. Further, you have got storage expansion support up to 1TB via a microSD card. The system will be running on Android 10 besides some sort of custom skin on its top. There is a 4120mAh battery that powers the system alongside some sort fast charging mechanism. As far as the connectivity is concerned, it having 5G support alongside most probably Wi-Fi 6. The other connectivity features are not known yet.

Variant and availability

On August 12 the company CEO Ni Fei had teased the phone on his Weibo account clicking a picture with the same phone. The picture posted with a caption “Innovation never ends, dreams go further! I have a showdown, the world’s first under-screen camera smartphone is my ZTE!” – Ni Fei. Then today the company has revealed the name of the phone as well as its launch date. The phone will be launched on September 1 this year in China. The phone will have three variants in 6GB-64GB, 8GB-128GB and 12GB-256GB storage configurations. Alongside two color options Blue and White.
